Here's where I was yesterday! Glacier National Park, Montana. This is St. Mary Lake, probably one of the most photographed parts of the park. I went alone but I got to meet a friendly mountain goat at an elevation of 6646 ft! I'd actually never seen a mountain goat in the wild before. I saw some more bighorn sheep and a black bear sniffing around a lodge near a lake. I bought the $80 annual pass that is good for all national parks, so I plan on returning and taking the time to hike and camp. More pictures later! I've gotta go to work.

AMERICAAAAA!
Happy Independence Day!
If you're wondering, this is the Sedman House in Nevada City, Montana. It is a well preserved historical ghost town with around one hundred buildings. I'll have more pictures to upload as a set at some point!

A hot spring in Yellowstone National Park. August 2008.
I'm upset with myself for being so behind on organizing my photos and keeping my sites updated. I am currently living out from under my parents' wings and unfortunately unemployed. I actually had two jobs since moving here a month ago. One was awful and I quit it to accept a better job, but I was later let go from the better job under fishy (embezzlement or nepotism?) circumstances. I've submitted applications and resumes to over 45 businesses. Some photographers and gallery owners have been very nice to me and wish they could hire me but these are tough times for everyone. Trying to be as productive as I can before I get a job and don't have time to keep my photos organized again.
I do manage to throw a lot of my photos that I don't always post here onto my Facebook account, so once again, feel free to add me there.

I am living happily in Montana now, but these were from before leaving Michigan at the beginning of the month. Sleeping Bear Dunes.

I got back from a 4 day Historical Geology field trip to the Elliot Lake region in Ontario, Canada on Monday.

Sandstone and dolostone.

Gowganda Formation - a dropstone in varves (seasonal lacustrine environment) - evidence of glaciation.

Massive Gowganda tillite.

Rhysonetron lahtii, a rare structure that looks like ripplemarks with mudcracks. How could this have happened? Many geologists have different theories, and some believe that the mudcrack areas are actually worm burrows. This rock near Flack Lake is part of the Gordon Lake formation and was deposited over 2.1 billion years ago. If this structure were created by worm burrows, our story about when complex life had evolved would be incorrect.
More pictures in my Facebook album.
